Lost Vineyard Musicians, and memories
I was reading Robby Macs blog and found out a bit of interesting information about David Ruis.
‘David was in the process of de-constructing our church into a network of missionally-focused home groups and groups of homegroups, but unfortunately not all the leadership wanted to go that direction. David resigned, the church decided to buy real estate (all in the same meeting), and a few months later David his family relocated to Los Angeles. David & Anita have since begun a destructured community of faith called Basileia. Well worth checking out what they’re up to, in a post-charismatic, charis-missional way.’
I know that I really enjoyed and was blessed by David Ruis Songs so it was of interest when I found this out on Robby Macs blog. It sounds like what David was trying to do is very similar to us except we are still in the Vineyard. (However when I looked at the Basileia web site I couldn’t decipher whether David is in or out of the movement. There are a lot of Vineyard links).
I feel a bit nostalgic about 90’s Vineyard musicians. It makes you wonder where they are, what they have discovered. Andy Park, Kevin Prosch, Cindy Rethmeier etc. In Australia you feel a bit left out.
Thank Robby for posting this and letting me remember.

You’re welcome!
And to the best of my knowledge (I ran into David here in Canada just a few weeks ago), their church plant is part of the Vineyard movement.
I miss David. He was always an encourager and visionary “hey, let’s try this…” kind of a guy.
david was here in columbus for the national pastor’s conference summer before last. he led worship and it was kind of an oddly nostalgic experince for me because much of my discovery of charismatic christianity was birthed in the midst of confrences in california where he often led. anyway, i enjoyed it.
his new church is a vineyard by the way.
regards,
jason
I just saw him here in Cali, at a worship deal. It was pretty rad.
I think he is coming to melbourne soon, but I’m not sure on the details….
