In an endangered moment of peace I had the opportunity this afternoon to sit down with the Age and an adequate home made espresso, and found an interesting article called “Lessons from the Old Testament”. There is an art exhibition at the Jewish Museum in Alma Road St Kilda, called the ‘Bal Taschit’ (Thou Shalt Not Destroy). The exhibition runs until June 29th, and has both Jewish and non-Jewish contributers on the theme of environmental issues based on texts from the Old Testament. Should be really interesting. The article features an interview with contributing artist Sam Leach - a professed atheist who believes that “its a pity that when people throw out religion they throw out the wisdom that comes with it.” Now to find a babysitter for Jemima.
