Breath, Tribes and The Subject Tonight is Love
There is somthing about good Australian liturature which resonates with me. Tim Winton resonates, leaving me stunned. The landscapes he describes feel like they are part of me. Yes the novel is good. Surf and surfing, you can taste the salt as you push from the waves. I loved the line about doing somthing pointless yet beautiful. A coming of age.
Christina has done a post on this book which is worth a look.
I don’t particularly get into management / leadership books, this one had been recommended by a few people so I lashed out.
I think Godin is pushing a few new paradigms in what it means to be a leader in an age where innovation does not necessary come from the top down. Where heretics may usurp traditional structures. Where communication has exploded especially with the advent of web 2.0. If you are in any type of leadership, or management where innovation is needed this is a good book to read.
The Subject Tonight Is Love: Sixty Wild and Sweet Poems of Hafiz
Hafiz is a 14th Century Persian poet. I don’t get the opportunity to read much poetry and it was a bit overwhelming. I couldn’t help drawing comparisons to the “Song of Solomons”. I felt the poetry had a stronger connection with the divine, than the “Song of Solomon’s”. Hafiz pulsates with desire for the divine, which I envy. I could not help thinking of the worships songs of the last 10 years. Written in the first person to Jesus, and think that they are lacking.
I would recommend this book cautiously….
