Coffee

When Christina gets into something she goes full hog. Thus I have learnt a thing or two!

The Rancillio has been a learning experience. I for one am still ok drinking international roast at work but come home to enjoy an expresso.

My coffee of choice is a fair trade, dark roast, decaf. Basically If I have to many ‘Real’ coffees I can feel it. Which I don’t like. I have effectively given up on the decaf when I go out. You get a better drop if it is real!

Having a Christina doing her homework I know why!

-The grind on decaf is differn’t. But most cafe have the grinder set the same for everything. Thus check out liar liar in hawthorn, differnt grinders for differn’t blends. We have found that its a finer grind for decaf

-decaf dosn’t sell quickly thus you go into a supermarket it could have been sitting there for weeks. Fresh is best.

Now will she use the bread machine to roast the coffee beans….

  1. A rice cooker may work too.

I agree. I am very happy, once I’ve actually got some money to spend on the luxury of a coffee machine, to take Christina’s well researched advice on both the machine and the grinder.

  2. It’s a whole world of discovery once you step into it, this world of coffee.
I did a course at William Angliss and I realised how much there was to learn! But once you go down that road, and love to find out more of the ‘art’ of coffee, tell me, when do we become coffee snobs – or are we already? :-)

  3. Di I don’t mind the cheap instant end of the market, but I do object to paying $3 +++ for a crap coffee. (The pig comes to mind!). Wine for me is a completely different matter.
So Di what sort of machine do you have?

  4. I have an important question!…will we have coffee in ‘heaven’ if not do we have other geographical options and locations. Lets face it if this is going to be a continous ‘church worship service’ the coffee had bloody well better be good!

  5. Yes we know how you bring along your own coffee to church Bob! I think I would prefer a Chardonnay in heaven.

  6. you can roast beans in a bread maker!!!
